4 TIPS TO FEEL CONFIDENT IN YOUR SWIMSUIT
In lieu of “National Bikini Day” I want to give you 4 tips to feel confident rocking your bikini this summer. The days of shying away from wearing the damn swimsuit is over! Don’t let the idea of wearing a cute bikini or one piece scare you off + take you away from life’s moments.
Here are 5 quick tips to go over to give yourself a quick boost.
1. Don’t buy into the “bikini body myth”
Seriously, the quote of the season: “Everybody is a summer body”. The notion of having the small waist, no cellulite + no stomach pouch is LONG gone. Your body is designed for what it does, not what it looks like. Next time you’re at the beach or pool, I guarantee you everyone else is more worried about what they look like rather than what you do. You do you, booboo.
2. Accessorize your look
Once you’ve found your swimsuit you feel bomb in, don’t stop there! I found that once I added some glam pieces it actually ended up making the outfit and putting it together. When I feel together = I partake in a self-proclaimed photoshoot of myself in public and give zero fucks (reference picture above 💁🏼♀️). You can add necklaces, a hat, earrings, statement sunglasses, a chic wrap or a cute hat! There are tons of awesome accessories that can complement your swimwear look.
3. Be kind to yourself.
Sometime‘s we are our own worst enemies. Getting into the habit of constantly criticizing yourself will only end back at square one. Get into the habit of caching yourself when speaking negatively about your body. Affirmations have truly been a game changer for me.
“I love my body”
”I deeply love and accept myself”
”I take care of my body”
”I am free to be happy and live a happy life”
”I am worth more than my appearance”
Write your affirmations down or store them in your phone. When you catch negative self talk, go over your list. Out loud.
4.Try the suit on at home
Let’s face it. I love the LED lighting for selfies in a favorite band tee at Target, however, when I tried a swimsuit on I was nearly in tears after the dimples on the back of my legs. I loved the suit so much I convinced myself I could try to make it work. When I got home to try it on, the natural lighting made SUCH a night and day difference. Yes, the leg dimples were still there, but it was not nearly what the LED lights in the dressing room made them out to be!
Remember: YOU DESERVE TO FEEL GOOD. You also deserve to live life and not let your swimsuit take you away from a girl’s trip, a bbq or getting in the pool with your kiddo. Treat yourself to something that you and your confidence shines in. There’s truly nothing better than that.
