TRENDS COMING SPRING ‘22
Do we have to follow every.single.trend that comes with each season? Hell no. However, what I appreciate about season trends lately is that they have helped push me out of my comfort zone and try out new things. If you would have seen my closet 6 months ago, the brightest color in there was black.
I’ve ALWAYS been a black/gray/white/neutrals gal. I literally dressed to not be noticed. As I started paying more attention to the fashion scene, I have had more confidence to try new colors, fits + textures. So, before you dive into this post, I ask for you to keep an open mind to see if there is anything that sparks interest to give a try yourself! When my girlfriend, Sam, and I did an IG live together last week, she said something that totally resonated with me - “our style is like our personality - we have multiple sides, not just one trait. Our style can be the same way.”
BOLD COLOR
You’ll see lots of bright and bold colors like orange, green, blue hot pinks… and mixing them together (aka color blocking). You can aim to combine multiple vibrant pieces together like pairing a bright colored top with equally bold bottoms. Sounds like a lot but it has actually been so fun!
This trend is complete opposite of my closet pallet but actually encouraged me to branch out. I ordered a green suit from Zara (lol like what), and I am OBSESSED with it. I would never have looked at a colored blazer, but I closed my eyes and said “why the hell not” as I pressed order. I was shocked when I threw it on. I felt sexy, confident and empowered. I threw on a white time under it to neutralize it but honey, I’m here for it!
TOPS THAT POP, FLUFF + FRAY
Puffy shoulders, checkered texture + frayed bottoms are being showcased all over the runways. Basically, just tying back into the 90’s trend that trickled over from last fall. 90’s/2k are here to stay this year. I personally don’t foresee me pulling out fishnets from Christina Aguilera “Dirty” video but, you will see the playful + bright beaded necklaces and smiley faces on some tee’s here and there.
MINISKIRTS
Again, one of the pieces we saw really come back last year that is tagging along into this year. I was the first one to roll my eyes and say I hadn’t worn one since middle school… but here we are as a leather mini is currently one of my closet staple pieces. Never say never, folks!
I love to pair a mini with a bodysuit and oversized jacket. This summer I envision many oversized t-shirts, my Levi’s jean jacket and my Dolce Vita western boots. Ah, summer.
PEDAL PUSHERS
Longer than bermudas and shorter than capris, this pant silhouette hits at the shin and looks particularly cool worn relaxed and baggy, perhaps layered over high-waisted boxers like Rhianna would, or low-slung with sneakers.
I think pairing them will a bodysuit + a pair of heels would be perfect for summer nights! Such an easy but elevated outfit idea for weddings too.
