Winter trends i’m wearing

It’s that time of the year again and while we did get our first snow here in Montana last week, I am LOVING this fall weather that is sticking around. Fifty degrees with fall colors = a big fan.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and I love updating my wardrobe with all the current trends and putting my own spin on things. When I look at clothes I often think of how many ways I can wear them - and of course how my audience can recreate for themselves, too! Sometimes it’s hard to take what we see on the runway and apply it into real life, so I wanted to take a few of the runway trends and show you how you can apply it to realistic everyday life.

Leather, Lace & Sheer

Leather and lace and everything nice! I remember last year questioning how I could wear lace/sheer in Montana - but let me tell you, it is one of my favorite looks now. Summer, fall, winter, you name it, very versatile and always in style.

This ‘fit I paired the sheer top with a leather trench (leather is also another big trend) and dressed it up with some jeans and heels. But this leather could easily be chilled down with leggings and tied together with some sneakers and a ball cap.

“Lovin’ Her Was Re-Re-Re RED”

If you haven’t noticed, red is the “it” color this winter. I know red can be an intimidating color to use in your wardrobe, just know you can use accessories! From clutches to baseball hats - easy way to incorporate it.

This dress from Abercrombie is perfect to use this holiday season, the BEST muted red. Don’t be afraid to wear some tights for some extra warmth and save yourself a spray tan sesh if you’re too busy. This is an open-back look which can get cold, but I paired it with this trench that is so warm and a great addition to the final look. This outfit is great for a Christmas work party or charity event!

Fun fact: Red is a universal color that looks good with every skin tone. Don’t be afraid to try it out!

Expansive Jackets

I know a puffer jacket isn’t exactly a fashion statement (lots of material to work with) but - they’re practical and necessary. Especially for this Montana girl! Negative 40 has no chance with this puffer, ha! Throwing a puffer jacket on is usually the last step in a getting-ready routine as you walk out the door… you throw it on top of whatever you decided on wearing and call it a day. But for this look, I styled the outfit around the puffer instead of vice-versa - and the result is an effortless look that will keep you both warm and stylish until the warm weather hits again come June!

Tailored Basics

Let’s be real - “basics” are in every season. That’s why I always recommend splurging a little more on the basic staple pieces for higher quality - you’ll get so much use out of them. Basics look like neutral t-shirts, blazers and a good pair of denim.

The fall weather still has me transitioning - cold in the morning, 50s in the afternoon, and cold again in the evenings. When it’s not quite chilly enough for a jacket, layering on a blazer is a great way to add warmth and style to your outfit. You know I’m a hoe for blazers. Versatile and my forever go-to. I dialed this look down a bit for a good casual workday at the coffee shop, but it is still a perfect GNO look by throwing on a pair of heels. You can never have enough blazers in your closet!
