Thick Thighs Short Series: 2024
Season 3 of “Thick Thighs Shorts Series” has officially kicked off this summer! We tried an older brand, a new brand and our tried and true brand. All in which I do think these are thick thigh girlie approved but I wanted to make sure we REALLY break the sizing down to help make any mistakes to finding your perfect pair of shorts this summer! Let’s break it down.
American Eagle
I was a little size shy and ordered a size 12 in all of these. Turns out American Eagle is true to size and a 10 would have fit like a glove for 3/4 of them!
High Waisted Relaxed Denim - these are true to size and have some stretch to them!
High Waisted 6’ Shorts - if you are a thick thigh girly I would size up one for them to comfortable fit your legs. The waistband has some stretch to them so the was it gap isn’t too bad, but if it bothers you just add a belt!
Drape Stretch Denim - these were a little tooooo tiny for me to wear day to day but would make a good cover up for a pool/boat day. The material is super stretchy! Due to how short they are, I would say size up one.
4” Black Denim - these were my favorite out of the haul. They were a little rigid but super comfortable! I would say these are true to size.
Madewell
This was my first time trying out Madewell and I was pleasantly surprised with the brand. They were super comfortable and thick thigh worthy. I also sized up in these just to be safe but these were defiantly true to size!
Curvy Perfect Vintage Shorts - these had a little stretch to them and are comfortable overall. I would recommend these are true to size.
Linen Pull On Shorts - how pretty is the blue?! The linen is durable but lightweight making them great for warmer weather. These are true to size!
The Denim Shorts - these were the most rigid but also had some stretch. Given that the width of the legs are pretty wide, you can grab these in your true size and be comfortable!
Curvy Mid-Length Short - these were rigid and given that the length is a little longer I definitely think sizing up was the way to go. If I would have done my true size my legs would have been little squished sausages!
A & F
We all know I am a ride or die with Abercrombie. They have perfected bottoms for us curvy girls with their “Curve Love” option! Curve Love means the waistband stays the same but they give an extra 2” in the hips/thighs so we don’t have to size up for our bottoms to fit our damn thighs. For that, I am forever grateful
Curve Love High Rise Dad Short - these are rigid but comfortable. I love the 4” inseam for full coverage but not cutting off your length visually.
Cute Love High-Rise Loose Short - I was a little hesitant with these at first but after looking up some Pinterest inspo, these would be great with a button down, cowboy boots and a cute trucker hat.
Curve Love High-Rise Mom Short - these are my FAVORITE. They have stretch to them, I love the rolled up hem and the wash. SO comfortable and 10000% worth adding to your closet.
Curve Love Tailored Sloane Short - these are a closet staple piece. They are a classic pair of shorts that you can dress up or down but with the tailored fabric stay comfortable all day.
Curve Love High-Rise 90’s Cut Off Short - these are a good classic pair of cut off denim. I will say with the cut off hem I do feel like these with roll up easier with thick thighs. I still have not discovered the secret to not having my shorts roll up 😂
