5 Fall Staple Pieces
Fall is on the way dear, and I am here to help make sure you know 5 easy staple pieces to have in your closet! I am confident you already have most of these basics, but I want to give you some reminders when shopping- quality over quantity, neutral tones, timeless and versatility.
Hot Tip! Here are some trends we are going to see this upcoming fall/winter:
Leather on leather
Big ol’ baggy/oversized fits (not showing off every curve)
Platform shoes/boots
Fuzzy everything - shoes, hats, bags and coats
90’s minimal - think boyfriend jeans paired with a white tank
Let’s take a closer look at 5 timeless pieces you can keep not just for fall, but year round.
Trench/Wool Coats
Well, well, well. The trench coats are back at it again and they are a definite classic wardrobe piece to have in your closet! From short wool dad styles to leather trenches, they are the coat of the season! The oversized collars, belts and length are a simple way to elevate your outfit for the rainy days ahead. I love dressing mine up with a pair of heels, to throwing a trench over a sweatshirt and leggings to run to the coffee shop!
Fuax Leather Leggins
Oversize Blazers
If you’ve been around for a minute, you know that an oversized blazer is my LOVE language. I would wear a blazer everyday if I could LOL Jackets have to check a lot of boxes. They have to be stylish, warm (should be #1 but it’s #2 for me), easy to dress up and easy to dress down. Let’s be real, there’s no closet completed without one or two, or in my case six, blazers.
I have found great luck finding my oversized blazers at H&M. I always go up one to two sizes so I can really get that oversized vibe. Some days I like being able to wear a sweatshirt under it. Oh, and if you haven’t got the memo leather is in, you can’t forget a good ol’ leather blazer. Such a bad bitch vibe.
Wide Leg Pants
I bet you have a pair or two of these in your closet for work, but let’s make them street wear!
When wide leg pants started coming back around, I thought it was hideous. No way Jose. I was going to be a ride or die skinny jean kinda girl, until I realized that they were actually the worst cut of jeans for my body. Did you know there are people that can help you when it comes to picking out clothes that actually compliment your body type? I found out skinny jeans are better flattering to those that have a bust, waist and his with similar measurements. Literally could not be more far off from my body type LOL I relate to more of the hourglass shape, meaning I have a smaller waste but a bigger bust and booty.. There we go, that’s a little more fitting.
Don’t worry if you are not an hourglass kinda girlie. Wide leg trousers can actually look like such a vibe on any body type! Having trouser pants on deck is a great minimalistic fundamental piece. They are light weight, breathable and you can eat all the French Toast at brunch and can be comfy as a bug! I’m tellin ya, don’t knock them until you try them!

Platform Shoes
This was the latest trend I was literally DRAGGING my feet on. When I saw platform shoes, I instantly was transported back to my grandma’s prom or looking like those people that walk the malls with black circles around their eyes, the trench coat and a mohawk. No shade, just not the vibe I go for lol We’re all over the place here. The moral of story is that I obviously have started warming up to this. I think I just needed to see platforms styled with outfits I would actually wear. The preppy or Y2K looks were just never my personal vibe but once I started seeing similar outfits I would actually wear, I finally gave in and decided to give them a try. Annnnd here we are!
There are a gazillion different ways to style platforms. If you type in “platform shoes styled” in Pinterest, boom. Three different ways I have been styling platforms are casual, elevated casual and good ol’ knee high boots with of course, my leather leggings. Also, beware of the instant confidence boost of being 3 feet taller than everyone around you LOL
